SBW HISTORY

Since 1897, Smith Bros. & Wilson has played an important role in the development of Western Canada. That role continues today, as over the years the company has earned a reputation for reliability that’s second to none.

‘Our Greatest Asset’… the experience and expertise of our people who have built the company and kept it in the forefront of an ever-changing industry. All of our members of our Board of Directors have served SBW for more than twenty years. Many of our employees have provided over twenty-five years of service for SBW. Some of our employees are second or even third generation SBW employees.

It is the kind of continuity that enables us to maintain our high standard of services and quality work as established by our founders before the turn of the century.

Today the SBW logo is found on construction sites as diverse and challenging as the industry offers. From pulp mills to Skytrain stations, hospitals to bridges, there is virtually nothing our construction team hasn’t built.

SBW PIONEERS

The history of Smith Bros. & Wilson began in the boomtown of Greenwood, B.C. in 1897. Three Smith brothers Duncan, Alexander and Donald, and their partner Travis formed a construction company to meet the needs of a new mining town.

The new company had plenty of work building houses, churches, business and mining buildings for a rapidly growing town. After their early success with construction projects in Greenwood, B.C. Smith Bros. & Wilson expanded their operations to other expanding industrial towns throughout B.C. and ultimately to Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Today Smith Bros. & Wilson is a much different company from the one formed in Greenwood in 1897. Construction techniques and equipment have progressed to meet the requirements of modern structures. However, the current operators hold true to the basic philosophy, set down by our founders, that providing high quality service and meeting our client’s needs are the keys to success and longevity.
